Professional/Technical advisory committees provide support and advocacy for quality, up-to-date Professional-Technical programs.
Advisory committee members are local business and industry professionals. They are given the opportunity to learn more about LCC's Professional Technical programs. They offer support to our students and instructors by advising the college of the local job market, employers' needs, advancements in technology/equipment, and community opportunities.
Why It Is Important:
- The guidance and advice of local advisory committee members can help ensure students are learning the most current skills needed in the workplace
- Provides an open forum for sharing information and ideas
- Creates a stronger community when business and education partner for our future workforce

Mission:
To prepare educators who demonstrate a positive impact on student learning, evidence shall be evaluated to determine whether each preparation program is in compliance with the program approval standards.
Purpose:
The purpose of the PEAB is to participate in and cooperate with the institution on decisions related to the development, implementation, and revision of each program. (WAC 181-78A-205)
PEAB Board Responsibilities Include:
- Adopt operating procedures.
- Meet at least three times over the course of the year. A quorum of voting members must be present at each meeting.
- The Professional Education Advisory Board must review all program approval standards at least once every five years.
- The PEAB annually has reviewed and analyzed data for the purposes of determining when candidates have a positive impact on student learning and providing the institution with recommendations for programmatic change. This data may include, but not be limited to: Student surveys, follow-up studies, employment placement records, student performance portfolios, course evaluations, and summaries of performance on the pedagogy assessment for teacher candidates.
- Make recommendations for program changes to the institution, which must in turn consider and respond to the recommendations in writing in a timely fashion.
Qualifications for Membership on a PEAB:
- Half of the voting members of a PEAB must be from the role - teacher, administrator, educational staff associate (WAC 181-78A-207)
Membership: Must include the following:
Teachers:
- 1/2 or more of the voting members must be classroom teachers appointed by the Washington Education Association (WEA) with the exception of one teacher who must be appointed by the Washington Federation of Independent Schools (WFIS)
- At least one principal appointed by the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP)
- At least one school administrator appointed by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA)
- At least one educational staff associate (school counselor, school psychologist, school social worker, school nurse, school occupational therapist, school physical therapist, or school speech language pathologist or audiologist) appointed by the president of the individuals' professional association
- At least one college or university representative
