Administrative Policies

Administrative policies at Lower Columbia college go through a process that includes a campus-wide review, leading to approval by the College Cabinet and Leadership Team. Revisions to policies follow the same procedure.

Board Policies

The Lower Columbia College Board of Trustees adopted a policy governance style of leadership that provides for a more visionary role for the Board, greater empowerment of college administration, faculty and staff, and slimmer volumes of policies and procedures.

Policy Governance addresses four areas:

  • Ends describe what benefits the Board expects to result from college activities.
  • Governance process clarifies the Board's own job and rules.
  • Board staff relationships describe the delegation and accountability linkage through the President.
  • Executive limitations describe the parameters on acceptable staff performance.
